The Gift Of God |
||||||||||||||
"Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you, you will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger." Luke 2: 10,11,12 Christmas is widely celebrated around the world. Festive sights, sounds, foods and fragrances embrace our senses. For many it is a time to gather with families, friends and neighbors and a time for exchanging smiles and brightly wrapped gifts. Traffic is endless, stores are crowded, tensions rise and expenses mount. But, this is not what Christmas is all about. Unless you understand that the real reason for this great celebration is the birth of Jesus, there is a shallowness in all the activity and frenzy that leaves you cold, empty and disappointed. Two thousand years ago, mankind was given the most precious gift of all time: a Savior, the Son of God. The precious Babe in the manger, Jesus, the Lamb of God came to earth to be a sacrifice for my sin… and yours. "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16,17 For the redeemed in Christ, Christmas is truly a time of joy, rejoicing and praise. When we celebrate Christmas, through our life in Christ, we celebrate "life eternal". Hallelujah!
