"That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend, with all saints, what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height, and to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:16-19 The love of Christ passes knowledge. His love, immense - immeasurable and complete - is a love so vast it cannot be grasped through our human understanding. Only those who are God's children can even begin to comprehend the depths of this love. As we prayerfully study God's Word through the teaching of the Holy Spirit we come to know the reality of His love. That we grow in the knowledge of the Truth and learn to value the fullness of the Lord's love for us is so important that Paul prayed for the Ephesians to be rooted and grounded in the love of Christ. We read more about the intensity of His love for us, as we are instructed in Hebrews 12:2 to "run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him" (accomplishing the Father's Will concerning His love for you and me) "endured the cross, despising the shame and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." We must fix our eyes on Jesus our Savior and continually seek the Lord for greater understanding of His wondrous love. As our own hearts are filled with the joy and peace of the love He so graciously lavishes upon His children, we can allow the Holy Spirit to work in and through us to more fully demonstrate His love towards others. "Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." 1 John 4:11
