Steadfastly Anchored |

“ This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast.” Hebrews 6:19aHaving sailed for years on ships, I can still recall the sound of the massive anchors being lowered to secure the ship from the movement of the waves and the ever changing currents. It was always a comforting assurance after a week on stormy seas and a reminder that Jesus is my sure and steadfast hope. We read in Hebrews 6:18 that we are to lay hold of the hope set before us. As we see the tide of “the world” change, drifting further and further away from the things of God, we need to draw near to Jesus, our anchor of the soul.If our excitement in living for Christ has faded and we ’re taking Him for granted, then perhaps Christ in us is no longer real to us. If the Bible is no longer alive to us, prayer no longer vital for us and fellowship has become inconvenient... well, as far as walking in the Spirit... we have become more like spectators of Christ than followers of Christ. As believers, we have access to God through Jesus Christ. Knowing Jesus lives to intercede for us should change the way we think about ourselves and keep us from going adrift. It bears repeating... we need to lay hold of Jesus, our anchor of the soul. Return to your First Love! Get into the Word, pray, fellowship, serve the Lord with gladness! “ Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.”Jeremiah 17:7
