John 6:27-29 "Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him. Then they said to Him, what shall we do, that we may work the works of God?" Jesus answered and said to them, this is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."
Without basic food to nourish the body, life on the material plane does not exist. Jesus put this into perspective. He said that the spiritual food is what counts for eternity. Therefore, living here in the temporal realm and living a life of existence is really meaningless unless we are doing the “works of God.” Jesus clarified “doing the works” of God was “believing in Him.”
Application: How many believe that they believe but are only hopelessly deceived. They believe in the wrong things. While for them, food and religion may be among the important things of life, the reality that they do not know who the Creator of the universe is, is what is important. Believing in Jesus is what life is all about. For many, even those who profess to be Christian, saying His very name out loud is difficult for them. It is these same people who use His name to curse and never think there is anything wrong.
