God's Word For Today |

Isaiah 24:13-15 "When it shall be thus in the midst of the land among the people, it shall be like the shaking of an olive tree, like the gleaning of grapes when the vintage is done. They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing; for the majesty of the LORD they shall cry aloud from the sea. Therefore, glorify the LORD in the dawning light, the name of the LORD God of Israel in the coastlands of the sea."
These verses are best read in the context of the entire 24th chapter of Isaiah which proclaims God’s judgment upon planet earth because of the wickedness and the disobedience of mankind. While this prophecy in Isaiah has immediate implications for the people of that day, it also has a future perspective. While God is a God of love and mercy, there comes a time when His grace comes to an end and judgment is the result. It appears that the coming judgment is just around the corner.
Application: It is not enough to just know about God, even if one has experienced the miraculous hand of God. There are many in the world today as in the past who have encountered God but by their own free will have chosen to rule and reign on their own without recognizing that we are all subject to a sovereign God.
