There is no doubt that the scriptures teach that although we cannot attain righteousness by our own works, once we are made righteous by the finished work of the cross we do good works in the name of Christ Jesus. Most often, Christians who call themselves Christian, put the cart before the horse. They believe that it is the good works that is the basis for them to be called Christian. This is another gospel according to the Bible and leads people to a hell deceptively.
