Genesis 12:1-3 "Now the LORD had said to Abram: Get out of your country, from your family and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."
This portion of scripture from the Genesis record lays the foundation for the establishment of the nation of Israel who are God’s chosen people. It also reveals the blessing that comes when a person, family or nation follows God’s command and makes the choice to bless God’s people. This does not mean that God’s people are holy but it clearly reveals there are consequences when a nation or people choose willfully to curse Israel. They will also become the enemies of God.
Application: While this scripture dates thousands of years before the present, the truth remains the same today. God does not change. Perhaps, those who are presently choosing curse Israel and threaten to wipe them off the map should consider what lies ahead. God keeps His word. When God fights for Israel in the future, all the atomic weapons manufactured by mere men will be meaningless.
