God's Word For Today |

Luke 6:45-46 "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?"
This portion of scripture provides the litmus test showing the heart of man. What determines the genuine source of man’s actions depends on what can be found in the heart of man. With a good man, there comes good from the heart. For an evil man, the heart brings forth evil. If you want to know what is in a man’s heart, then listen to what he has to say. However, this does not mean that the heart cannot be deceptive. The heart can be desperately wicked. As Jesus said, “why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord’ and not do the things which I say.”
Application: This portion of scripture should be a reminder to each one of us that we need to examine our lives and our hearts to make sure that the things we are saying are pure and not from a heart that is corrupt.
