Genesis 17:18-21 "And Abraham said to God, Oh, that Ishmael might live before You! Then God said: No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you. Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall beget twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. But My covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this set time next year."
This portion of scripture taken from Genesis 17 lays out the foundation for God’s plan for the seed of Abraham. Because Ishmael and Isaac were born as the result of a union between two different mothers, a “Y” was made in the road of history that still creates many conflicts. This shows the sovereignty of God. God knows the end from the beginning and it is he that is in control, not man.
Application: Do you want to understand why there is a conflict in the middle east today? Check out biblical history. A choice made by Abraham thousands of years ago to have a son out of wedlock set up a global conflict in the last days of time. While most Arab nations are hostile to Israel today, God still has chosen them as His special people. This is the reason that there is antisemitism in the world today and it is also a fact this will be the reason for a third world war.
