Ephesians 2:4-7 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ by grace you have been saved, and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus."
These verses reveal to us the incredible miracle of salvation that has been provided to all those who have accepted the sacrifice made by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Although we were headed to a lost eternity, Jesus Christ, the Creator of the universe, provided a way that we may spend eternity in heaven with Him. Further, for the ages to come, we will come to understand this incredible gift which is by grace alone and not by works.
Application: Understanding the facts associated with these verses should cause joy and appreciation to well up in our souls. We should remind ourselves these truths that Paul is making clear to the church at Ephesus. Many times, we go about our daily lives as Christians and forget about what Jesus has done for us. Remind yourself today.
