God's Word For Today |
|||||
1 Timothy 4:1-5 "Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer."
There are many warnings written down in the New Testament about a Last Days apostasy that will be characterized when people of faith, fall away from the faith. If biblical faith comes by hearing the Word of God, this means that the falling away from the faith happens when those who are in teaching positions no longer adhere to the Word.
Paul also seems to indicate there will be an acceptance of ideas that are not biblical such as not marrying and eating restrictions. Such ideas are promoted as beliefs that would be classified as dogmas from Rome. While there is room here for speculation, it seems these ideas may be common in the last days as part of the agenda formed by the deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.
Application: If falling away from the faith is associated with lies and schemes promoted by the doctrines of demons, there is only one way to remain true to God’s Word. Read the Word and become familiar with the Word so that you will be able to detect false teaching. The reason so many are falling away is that the listen to pastors and teachers that are telling stories who get there ideas from books, but not the Bible.
