God's Word For Today |
|||||
Romans 8:31-37 "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
As we pass through life, Christians will encounter times in their lives when they feel so defeated they don’t know how they can continue down the road of life. Life is not easy and there are many curves in the road as well as obstacles that make it seem like it is impossible to go on. However, Paul’s words written to the Romans should be a great encouragement. No matter who attacks, it is God who justifies, not any man. Because of Jesus Christ, who He is and what He has done, we stand justified before Him. Because Jesus is for us, who or what conditions can defeat us. We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ.
Application: I do not know of anyone who professes to be a believer who has not had times of defeat in their lives where they were so discouraged they did not know how they would be able to continue. These words shared by Paul should be a great encouragement. If the Creator of the universe is for us, then who can be against us. We are victorious through Jesus Christ.
