Malachi 4: 1-3 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.
These verses in Malachi express the LORD’s proclamation that there will be a time of coming judgement upon wicked sinful men and women on planet earth. It is important to reflect from a biblical perspective who the wicked and sinful are. According to the Bible, there is not one single human being on planet earth that has not sinned. All, have fallen short of the glory of God. The glory of God is Jesus Christ, who lived His life as a man on this planet without sin and then shed His blood on the cross as a sacrifice for sin. While judgement is inevitable for sinners, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, has provided a way to miss the judgment and have eternal life with Him.
Application: While no one likes to be labeled a sinner, we all are sinners. The Bible states that the wages of sin is death and that all deserve to spend eternity in hell along with the devil and his angels. Thanks be to God, for the wonderful plan of salvation provided by Jesus Christ. He is the One who died on the cross at Calvary and His blood was shed. It was He who said to the thief beside Him on the cross, that because of his faith in the Savior, he would be in heaven with Him. The question for each one of us is simple: have we accepted the same offer he made to the thief on the cross to each one of us?
