God's Word For Today |
|||||
Job 6:24 Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
Comment: James teaches us that the tongue is the most
significant weapon for warfare that exists on planet earth. The
tongue equally can be a blessing if handled properly. Perhaps,
holding the tongue from uttering words of destruction may well be
the most important tactic that we will ever learn. This is why it is
better to be silent than outspoken.
Application: The statement made by Job should be the daily
prayer of every believer. Think how different relationships would be
if we thought carefully before opening our mouths and letting our
tongues shape the air that comes up through our voice boxes. Have
you ever lost your voice when you were ill? This can be an important
lesson in life. Sometimes no expression is better that a hateful one
that will damage someone for life. On the other hand, a positive and
caring expression can impact someone for eternity if the right words
are expressed.
