Colossians 2:8

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Comment:

Paul, when he wrote to the church, warned them implicitly about following men rather than God. The tendency for believers is to throw out scripture and to rely upon human speculation and reasoning rather than the words inspired by the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately, this happens to many believers who are driven by the world away from the Word of God.

Application:

If you are a Christian and you are reading this, then pay attention. Be aware of false teachers that may be masquerading as Christian. Or worse yet, beware of teachers in the world who deny the Word of God and seduce minds into believing lies that lead their prey away from the truth. You need to pray for wisdom on both accounts.
