God's Word For Today |
|||||
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Comment: Jesus said that many would stand before Him on
the Day of Judgment and claim that they were believers. They had
believed that they had believed but instead were deceived and on
their way to hell. Only those who do the will of the Father enter
into the kingdom of heaven. Those who do not, do not.
Application: This is a very sobering scripture and should
cause everyone who reads this to pause and take inventory. There are
many who feel confident they are on the road to heaven when they are
not. This can include those who are in pulpits preaching. Is it
possible that salvation is more than putting up one’s hand or
walking to the front of a group of people and repeating a prayer? I
think this is what Jesus is saying, don’t you? Salvation also
required a track record of being obedient while accepting the grace
of God as the key to eternal life.
