God's Word For Today |
|||||
Matthew 18:21-22 "Then Peter came to Him and said, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven."
Comment: For Christians, forgiveness is not an option, it is a necessity. While forgiving a brother is always difficult, there is no way around forgiveness. However, the fact remains, when God forgives, He forgets. When man forgives he may not forget but still must continue to forgive.
Application: Have you ever had a situation where someone you know continues to sin against you and you want to retaliate? Of course you have. You must forgive them but this does not mean that you will forget their actions and not avoid being hurt by them again.
