1 Timothy 6:10-12
"For the love of money
is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have
strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced
themselves through with many sorrows. But you, O man of
God, flee these things and pursue righteousness,
godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the
good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which
you were also called and have confessed the good
confession in the presence of many witnesses."
Comment:
This is one of
the basic lessons of life for a follower of
Christ. Note the reference to the “love of
money” is the root of evil. Money in itself is
not evil, but the LOVE of MONEY is. This causes
one to stray from the faith and actually to lose
faith for the sake of greed. We are to flee from
greed and pursue righteousness, godliness,
faith, love, patience and gentleness.
Application: Each one of us needs to apply this scripture to our personal lives. Sometimes Satan can dupe us into lusting after money and we do not even know that it has happened
