God's Word For Today

2 Timothy 2:6

"The hardworking farmer must be first to partake of the crops.�

Comment:

In order to be a farmer a number of things are required. The farmer must work hard. The farmer must depend on many factors beyond human control. A farmer must deal with nature and human nature but nature is always easier to deal with than other humans. The goal of any farmer is to partake of a crop and a crop means that there must be a time of seeding and a time of harvest.

Application:

Paul admonished Timothy to be like a hard working farmer. Many Christians just do not understand the basics of what it means to be like a hard working farmer and what a farmer has to do in order to get a crop. Nor do many Christians understand that God is sovereign and in charge of their lives as Lord and Savior. Many Christians want to be served rather than serve as do pastors who take a position of leadership. Maybe it is time to learn how to farm God�s way and not man�s way!
