2 Timothy 2:23-26 "But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will."
Comment: The instructions from Paul to Timothy on how to address those who are caught in Satan’s trap and have been led astray are very important. Of course it is Satan’s plan to attack believers and make them totally ineffective. Also, a true servant of the Lord must not be upset with those who attack him but be gentle and willing to teach them the truth in spite of their lies. Application: Often when believers are confronted by opposition they revert to head on challenges and confrontation that can lead to further problems. It is better to remain calm and fight fire with gentleness rather than fire giving the attacked an opportunity to repent and see the light.
