God's Word For Today |
|||||
Matthew 18:1-4 "At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven? Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
Comment: Who is the greatest in heaven? Those with child-like faith are greater that pastors of megachurches that use Purpose Driven church growth methods to build kingdoms of grandeur. This is in keeping with what Jesus also said – the “first will be last and the last will be first" (Matthew 20:16). Humility is the key - not arrogance and pride that comes before a fall. Many who are presently in the news as the leaders will fail to make it to the wedding supper or if they do be sitting at the back.
Application: We all need to evaluate where we are and where we will end up when this life is over. If we are still alive then there is still time to adjust perhaps even turn over a new leaf.
