Proverbs 1:7
"The fear of the
LORD is the beginning of
knowledge, but fools
despise wisdom and
instruction." Comment: This verse is one of the most important in the Bible. Solomon, the wisest of all asked the Lord for this gift. He was given wisdom but rejected what he was given because he fell into Satan’s trap. Instead of wisdom he was led away into gathering wealth, power and was overwhelmed with an onslaught of the opposite sex, all three undoubtedly took him down.
Application: Based on this gem of truth that Solomon himself wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit should provide tremendous encouragement and enlightenment to each of us. This goes for either sex, male or female. Wisdom is a precious commodity. If one has wisdom, then one is not inclined to be a fool. Wisdom also required that one is open to instruction and correction, that is if correction is biblical. Sometimes friends are willing to take the correcting role but they also do not understand that everyone had been given a certain call. One must balance personal calls using wisdom to know when instruction from those around us is valid.
