1 John 4:4-6
"You are of God, little
children, and have
overcome them, because
He who is in you is
greater than he who is
in the world. They are
of the world. Therefore
they speak as of the
world, and the world
hears them. We are of
God. He who knows God
hears us; he who is not
of God does not hear us.
By this we know the
spirit of truth and the
spirit of error." Comment: There are two dimensions of the spirit realm– God’s and Satan’s. This is important. There is the spirit of truth that comes from God and there is the spirit of error that comes from Satan. Those who do not have the spirit of truth do not know that they do not know and those who do have the spirit of truth know that they know. We are to be led by the spirit of God but even believers are found in a battle as their flesh can overpower them because each of us has a will.
Application: Life is a constant spiritual battle between the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. We constantly have to make choices. Those choices are cerebral in that we use our minds which can easily be controlled by external forces – what we see, what we hear and what we feel. A spirit filled believer must make the right choices even though they may be spirit filled. This explains why Christians can be carnal and careless.
