God's Word For Today

John 3:3

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Comment:

Jesus was speaking to Nicodemus. His conversation is recorded in the 3^rd chapter of the Bible and lays the foundation for understanding the entire Bible explaining what it means to be a follower of Christ and the key to where one spends eternity. While Nicodemus understood natural childbirth he did not understand what it means to be born again. Jesus clarified what this meant. The spirit of God that departed the human heart at the fall can be rebirthed when someone accepts and understands the true gospel.

Application:

Do you understand the true gospel? Paul calls this the gospel according to the scriptures. This involves recognizing our sin, asking for forgiveness and knowing who Jesus is and what He has done. He is the one who sacrificed His life by His shed blood, died and three days later rose from the dead. He lives today and we must ask Him to take charge of our lives and dwell in our hearts and thus be born again.
