January 27 - Hamas Leader Claims Third Intifada Just A Matter Of Time
Article: Israel And The Last Days
Hamas leader Hassa Yousef told an Israeli news agency on Sunday that a third Intifada, or Arab armed uprising, is “just a matter of time.” His remarks were made just one week after his release from an Israeli prison, and moments after an official from long time rival, Fatah, headed by Mahmoud Abbas, called on increased terrorist attacks on Israel.
Yousef warned, “the Intifada will not wait for anyone, if it doesn’t happen today then it will happen tomorrow, if not this month then next month.” “Intifada” is an Arabic term meaning, ”shaking off the yoke.”
Marking 26 years since the first intifada, the secretary of Hamas, Abd el-Salam Siam, said in a press release Sunday, that the Gaza Government supports all forms of “struggle” against the “Israeli occupation,” whether it is through peaceful means or armed struggle.
The Hamas leader stated, "the Palestinian people clings to every grain of its land and would never agree to accords or solutions that would relinquish the national rights and basic principles, and the sacred places, and deny the blood of the martyrs and the sacrifices of prisoners, in their souls and their lives, for the sake of Palestine from the sea to the river."
