ImageWare Systems announced it signed a deal valued at more than $1 million with Funciones Ocupacionales Insha, to provide software that will facilitate a multi-modal biometric driver license system for the state of Baja California, Mexico.The project, which will begin in the third quarter of 2014, will help create more than one million licenses for Baja California over the next three years.
ImageWare will install the software at governmental offices in the state’s largest cities, such as Tijuana, Mexicali, Tecate and Rosarito, as well as establish mobile facilities across the state.

Based on ImageWare’s CloudID modular software platform, the multi-modal biometric driver license system facilitates the rapid development and deployment of identity management solutions to generate various credentials. These documents include IDs, passports, driver’s licenses, smart cards and access control credentials.
The software is designed to provide a comprehensive identity management solution, which ImageWare says will accommodate unlimited population sizes and stations, as well as allow users to add other biometric modalities and incorporate new biometric devices.
The Baja California government will be able to seamlessly transition to the multi-modal biometric driver license system since the system will be fully integrated with its current biometric identification and verifications processes.
