Financial services firm Bank Muscat announced it has introduced a biometric system that is compatible with the national identification card.
Available across its network of 137 branches, Bank Muscat’s biometric ID system is designed to improve efficiency and facilitate faster transaction processing times.
The NID enables accurate data capture during banking transactions, particularly in the case of opening new accounts.
Bank Muscat has teamed up with the Royal Oman Police to launch the new biometric identification system and ultimately provide innovative solutions in national identity during banking services.
The biometric system is also in accordance with the e-governance initiative of the government to facilitate faster, more convenient and risk free secure banking transactions.
“As the flagship bank in Oman, Bank Muscat is proud to take the lead in introducing the new biometric system which reiterates the bank’s success in defining new trends in banking services and improving customer experience,” said Bank Muscat CEO AbdulRazak Ali Issa, “The bank’s dynamic ‘Let’s Do More’ vision reflects the readiness to leverage on investments in state-of-the-art technology and services to further increase efficiency and improve customer service. Bank Muscat enjoys an edge in hi-tech products and services in tune with the country moving towards e-governance.”
The system works by inserting the national identification card into the biometric machine while customers scan their fingerprint in a one-touch process, to securely authenticate their banking transactions.
