February 26 - Humility is the first step to unity, Pope tells Catholics, Anglicans
Article: Bridges To Rome
Comment from UTT:
The path to ecumenical unity with Rome by the Anglican Church is almost
complete. This is happening at the same time that Pope Francis states
that all religions worship the same God. Many so-called evangelical
Protestants have no problem with ecumenism either. This is exactly what
the Bible indicates will happen before Jesus Christ returns.
During his Sunday visit to Rome's Anglican parish of All Saints,
Pope Francis voiced
gratitude for the good relations Catholics and Anglicans
now enjoy, and said that on the path toward full communion,
humility has to be the point of departure.
Pope Francis spoke to a crowd of both Catholic and Anglican
faithful during his Feb. 26 visit to the Anglican church of
All Saints, which marked the first time a Roman Pontiff has
set foot in an Anglican parish inside his own diocese of
Rome. This visit coincided with the 200th anniversary of the
foundation of the Anglican parish community in the heart of
the Eternal City, and consisted of a short choral Evensong
service, during which the Pope blessed and dedicated an icon
of "St. Savior" commissioned for the occasion. During the
ceremony, the
symbolic "twinning" of All Saints Anglican Church with the
Catholic parish of "Ognissanti" - the only Catholic parish
in Rome dedicated to All Saints - also took place, forming
strong ecumenical ties between the two.

March 1 - New Report Says Islam Will Surpass Christianity And Become The Largest Religion In The World
Article: Perilous Times
Comment from UTT:
A
major tenant of Islam is to win the world under the banner of the Muslim
faith. The strategy to do this includes conquering those who do not
believe by violence and terrorism as well as by increasing the
percentage of those who believe by increasing the population through
child birth. True Christianity is based on trusting and believing in
Jesus Christ, the Son of God which Islam openly rejects. Obviously, the
battle will intensify and true Christians can expect persecution.
If current trends continue, Islam is on track to become the largest
religion in the entire world by the end of this century
according a stunning new report that was just released by the Pew Research
Center. While it is true that
Christianity is still growing on a global basis, it is not growing nearly as
rapidly as Islam. So unless something changes, Christianity will only be the
second largest faith in the world by the year 2070. According to this newly
released report, Islam is the only major religion that is growing faster than
the global population overall, and it is being projected that the number of
Muslims on the planet will rise by a staggering 73 percent
between 2010
and 2050

March 1 - Get ready for robots made with human flesh
Article: Transhumanism
Comment from UTT:
As
time goes by it is going to become increasingly more
difficult to discern what is purely human and what is not.
The concept of transhumanism is an attempt by man to advance
society to new levels using technology in combination with
human flesh. This attempt to create a utopian society will
fail when the time comes for the Creator to send the final
judgment.
Two University of Oxford biomedical
researchers
are calling for robots to be built
with real human tissue, and they say the
technology is there if we only choose to
develop it. Writing in
Science Robotics,
Pierre-Alexis Mouthuy and Andrew Carr
argue that humanoid robots could be
the exact tool we need to create muscle and
tendon grafts that actually work.
Right now, tissue engineering relies on
bioreactors to grow sheets of cells. These
machines often look like large fish tanks,
filled with a rich soup of nutrients and
chemicals that cells need to grow on a
specialized trellis. The problem, explain
Mouthuy and Carr, is that
bioreactors currently "fail to mimic
the real mechanical environment for cells."
In other words, human cells in muscles and
tendons grow while being stretched and moved
around on our skeletons. Without
experiencing these natural stresses, the
tissue grafts produced by researchers often
have a broad range of structural problems
and low cell counts.

March 1 - New Research Reveals Disturbing Trend Among America's Pastors
Article: Signs Of The Last Times
Comment from UTT:
This report provides statistics showing the state of
present day Christianity. Those who have studied the
signs of the times in relationship to Bible apostasy
will not be surprised. Without question, falling away
from the faith is the norm while Christianity is in the
process of being reinvented.
A landmark new
study by Barna Group, conducted in partnership with Pepperdine
University, offers a revealing look into the lives of America's
pastors. Drawn from interviews with more than 14,000 Protestant
pastors from 40 denominations spanning the theological and
political spectrum,
The State of Pastors
is both hopeful and troubling, with unexpected bright spots and
worrisome levels of struggle for some clergy. The findings are
available as a 175-page full-color book that includes the full
study data, analysis and infographics.
The bad news for
the church is the
graying of America's clergy: "As other careers woo millennials
and older generations struggle to hand the baton to younger
pastors, the median age of pastors has risen from 44 to 54 over
the last 25 years." Protestant churches face a massive
leadership shortage in the coming decades, similar to that seen
in the Catholic Church. The situation appears bleak: seven out
of 10 pastors report that it's becoming more difficult to
identify promising pastoral candidates.

March 2 - Artificial human life could soon be grown in lab after embryo breakthrough
Article: Cloning And Genetic Engineering
Comment from UTT:
Tinkering with life created by God continues by humans who have greedy
ambition, and the consequences will bring catastrophe and judgment.
Artificial
human life could soon be grown from scratch in the lab, after
scientists successfully created a mammal embryo using only stem
cells.
Cambridge
University mixed two kinds of mouse stem cells and placed them
on a 3D scaffold. After four days of growth in a tank of
chemicals designed to mimic conditions inside the womb, the
cells formed the structure of a living mouse embryo.
The breakthrough has been described as a
'masterpiece' in bioengineering, which could eventually allow
scientists to grow artificial human embryos in the lab without
the need for a sperm or an egg.
Growing
embryos would help researchers to study the very early stages of
human life so they could understand why so many pregnancies
fail,
but is likely to prove controversial and raise
ethical questions about what constitutes human life.
Currently
scientists can carry out experiments on leftover embryos from
IVF treatments, but they are in short supply and must be
destroyed after 14 days. Scientists say that being able to
create unlimited numbers of artificial embryos in the lab could
speed up research while potentially removing some of the ethical
boundaries.
"We are very optimistic that this will allow us
to study key events of this critical stage of human development
without actually having to work on (IVF) embryos. Knowing how
development normally occurs will allow us to understand why it
so often goes wrong."
The
embryos were created using genetically engineered stem cells
coupled with extra-embryonic trophoblast stem cells (TSCs) which
form the placenta in a normal pregnancy.
