News Alert - September 21 - Vatican bank chief investigated over money laundering claims
Article: Roman Catholic Church And The Last Days.
Comment from Understand the Times:
The
Roman Catholic Church is soon to announce the collapse of
"Protestantism" which has already collapsed years ago. Rome claims to be
the only true church. Their dirty laundry is not that good either as
many have already seen. Maybe the church should follow Jesus instead of
men from now on.
The head of the Vatican bank has formally
been placed under investigation in an inquiry into a suspected violation of
Italy's
money-laundering laws, judicial sources said today.
At the same
time, a judge in Rome ordered a freeze on 23m (19.5m) held in an account
opened by the Vatican bank, the Institute for the Works of
Religion
(IOR), at another financial institution in the Italian capital. It was
thought to be the first time such action had been
authorized against the IOR in Italy.
The
sources said that last Wednesday, on the eve of Pope Benedict's departure
for Britain, a unit of the Italian revenue guard
alerted prosecutors to an anomaly in an account owned by the IOR at the Rome
branch of Credito Artigiano, which has close historic ties to the
Catholic church.
The Vatican has a long history of withholding
co-operation from Italian investigators seeking access to its bank's books.
The IOR was involved in a major scandal in 1982 arising from the fraudulent
bankruptcy of Banco Ambrosiano, then Italy's largest private bank.

September 17 - Make the Pledge - 40 Days and 40 Nights
Article: Misc.
Comment from Understand The Times:
It should be no surprise that Glen Beck would utilize
the same "40 days of purpose" used by Rick Warren to
work together with others to do good. They both have
Rupert Murdock, a member of the Council for Foreign
Relations, as someone they would both consider a mentor
and financial confidant.
For the next 40 days and
40 nights, I pledge...I COVENANT
to practice faith, hope and charity by doing these things.
First...faith. I will pray on my knees every night for the next 40
nights...starting TONIGHT. Pray for guidance, inspiration,
peace...pray for the leaders of our country. Pray for their safety,
and that they will receive wisdom. I will re-establish my
relationship with God.
Hope...hope comes from truth. You can't have hope based on lies. So,
I will stop all lies for the next 40 days. That includes lying to
myself. I will establish a pattern of honesty and make it become
habitual. I will question with boldness...everything...even
the things Glenn Beck tells you every night...I
will do my own research...and then pray for my own confirmation on
the things I have learned. I will find out what is true in my life.
And third...I will have charity. Charity begins at home. I will do
something kind for every member of your family at least once a week.
Pledge of Nonviolence
1. As you prepare to march meditate on the life and teachings of Jesus
2. Remember
the nonviolent movement seeks justice and reconciliation - not
victory.
3. Walk and
talk in the manner of love; for God is love.
4. Pray
daily to be used by God that all men and women might be free.
5.
Sacrifice personal wishes that all might be free.
6. Observe
with friend and foes the ordinary rules of courtesy.
7. Perform
regular service for others and the world.
8. Refrain
from violence of fist, tongue and heart.
9. Strive
to be in good spiritual and bodily health.
10. Follow
the directions of the movement leaders and of the captains on
demonstrations.
Make The Pledge
If you agree to abide by
these
principles of nonviolence and to practice faith, hope and charity by
doing the above things, sign your name below.

September 17 - Is Glenn Beck the Next Billy Graham? For a Few. (Maybe Too Few?)
Article: Misc.
Comment
from Understand the Times:
Glen Beck
and Billy Graham have something in common. They are building the
kingdom of God. But can there be a kingdom of God here on earth
without the King? There are a number of different groups who are
working together to build the kingdom right now on planet earth.
Is it possible that they will prepare the way for a counterfeit
king, the Bible calls the antichrist?
After Fox News host Glenn Beck
led his spirit-filled "Restoring Honor" revival on the Mall last month,
he seemed to be reinventing himself as an American
Moses delivering America back to the Promised Land -- or perhaps the
next Billy Graham, as Southern Baptist leader Richard Land
suggested.
Yet a new poll shows that Beck isn't quite yet a figure of biblical
proportions, with 17 percent of Americans
believing Beck "is the right person to lead a religious movement" and 50
percent saying he's not. Even among Republicans and white
evangelicals, a highly motivated cohort of conservative voters who view
Beck more favorably than other Americans, fewer
than one-third say he is the right person to lead a religious movement.
The poll, conducted by Public Religion Research Institute in partnership
with Religion News Service, also showed that
a majority of Americans (57 percent) don't know
Beck is a Mormon, and those who do know he is a Mormon -- especially
conservative Protestants who are particularly suspicious of Mormon
beliefs -- are less likely to trust him as a religious leader.
Those results are in line with
other surveys on Mormonism, John Green, an expert on religion and
politics at the University of Akron, told RNS.
"Because other surveys show that Mormons are not especially popular with
Americans, as a rule, then it's likely that if more people found out
Glenn Beck's religious background, that would inhibit them following
him," Green said.

News Alert - September 23 - Aliens Are Monitoring Our Nukes, Worry Ex-Air Force Officers
Article: Rising Interest In The Supernatural
Comment from
Understand The Times:
This is the news event that
Understand The Times has been waiting for for over 30 years. It will
soon be announced that humans are not alone in the universe. This is
true. There are fallen angels and demonic beings who have been
influencing planet earth since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden
(Genesis chapter).
Be prepared for an onslaught
of reports confirming that extraterrestrials are monitoring humankind.
They are NOT further evolved beings. This scenario can be understood in
light of the Bible and the Holy Spirit.
If you are not a born-again
Christian, then bow you knee, ask Jesus Christ to forgive you for your
sins, repent and follow Him. (Read John chapter 3:16 immediately and ask
the Holy Spirit to show you what is going on at this time in history).
Captain Robert Salas was on duty in
Montana in 1967 when a UFO shut down the
nuclear missiles on his base. And he's hardly the only
one to make such a claim.
On Monday, six former U.S. Air Force
officers and one former enlisted man will break their silence
about similar events at the National Press Club,
all centering around unidentified flying
objects and nuclear missiles. They plan to urge the government
to publicly confirm the incidents, stating that they were
ordered never to discuss the events.
According to the pair, witness
testimony from more than 120 former or retired military
personnel points to an ongoing and
alarming intervention by unidentified aerial objects at nuclear
weapons sites, as recently as 2003. In some cases, several
nuclear missiles simultaneously and inexplicably malfunctioned
while a disc-shaped object silently hovered nearby.
Are they
evidence of unknown military action from a foreign country, or
are these extraterrestrial visitors? Salas thinks the answer is
clear -- and finds it curious that they're so interested in our
nuclear arsenal. "There's a strong
interest [in our missiles] by these objects, wherever they come
from. I personally think they're not from planet Earth."
"This is only the tip of the iceberg, these stories,"
Salas told FoxNews.com.

September 12 - Unloved Pope Benedict a bust in Britain as faithful depart this pontiff
Article: Roman Catholic Church And The Last Days
Comment
from Understand The Times:
Apparently the present pope is not as popular as the last pope.
Another way of saying this is: white is black and black is
always black. In other words, the pope is not the vicar of
Christ. He is a man just like any other man. Why is he dressed
in white? Why is Prince Charles and his bride dressed in
black? Shouldn't they all be dressed in black?
The people are voting with
their feet when it comes to
Pope Benedict's visit
to Britain this week.
A
crowd of 300,000 was
expected for a mass
in Glasgow which many Irish
will attend.
Now
they predict
only
80,000 will come.
Church authorities are now
trying desperately to
distribute thousands of
tickets through school
throughout Britain
but the demand is simply not
there.
In a letter sent to heads of
Catholic schools in London
last week, the Archbishop of
Westminster, Rev Vincent
Nichols, issued
an
"urgent" call for parties of
schoolchildren to attend the
Hyde Park event.
It is no coincidence
that the best selling book
in Britain this week is 'The
Case of the Pope" by
attorney Geoffrey Robinson.
The blurb says it all.
"Is
the Pope morally or legally
responsible for the
negligence that has allowed
so many terrible crimes to
go unpunished?" This title
delivers a devastating
indictment of the way the
Vatican
has run a secret legal
system that shields
pedophile priests from
criminal trial around the
world.
The fact is that
this pope is unloved and is
proving an embarrassment.
His
cover-up of pedophile
scandals clearly
orchestrated from the
highest levels of the
Vatican have sickened and
disgusted millions of
ordinary faithful Catholics.
The
faithful departed
will have no truck with this
Vicar of Christ and the
Vatican enablers who let the
pedophile crisis spread.
They know the message of the
Gospel is not what has been
preached from the Vatican
over the past decade.

News Alert - September 17 - Pope's astronomer says he would baptize an alien if it asked him
Article: Roman Catholic Church And The Last Days
Comment from
Understand The Times:
If you had a choice, who would
you believe? The God of the Bible who created the universe or the pope's
astronomer, who says that intelligent design and creationism is a crackpot
view promoted by people who believe the Bible literally.
Further, the pope's private
astronomer says that if an "alien" showed up on planet earth in a UFO
someday in the future, he would have no problem baptizing a being that
looked like an octopus.
Now, the pope is supposed to be
the top guy in the Roman Catholic Church. Surely the pope can find a better
advisor who can come up with biblical answers, rather than the astronomer he
now uses as his advisor
Aliens
might have souls and could choose to be baptized if humans ever met them,
a Vatican scientist said today. The official also dismissed intelligent
design as "bad theology" that had been "hijacked" by American
creationist fundamentalists.Guy
Consolmagno, who is one of the pope's astronomers, said
he would be "delighted" if intelligent life was
found among the stars. "But the odds of us finding it, of it
being intelligent and us being able to communicate with it - when you
add them up it's probably not a practical question."
Speaking ahead of a talk at the British
Science Festival in Birmingham tomorrow, he said that the traditional
definition of a soul was to have intelligence, free will, freedom to
love and freedom to make decisions.
"Any entity - no matter how many tentacles it has - has a soul." Would
he baptize an alien? "Only if they asked."
The Pontifical Academy of Sciences,, of
which Stephen Hawking is a member, keeps the senior cardinals and the
pope up-to-date with the latest scientific developments. Responding to
Hawking's recent comments that the laws
of physics removed the need for God, Consolmagno
said: "Steven Hawking is a brilliant physicist and
when it comes to theology I can say he's a brilliant
physicist."
Consolmagno curates the pope's meteorite
collection and is a trained astronomer and planetary scientist at the
Vatican's observatory. He dismissed the ideas of
intelligent design - a pseudoscientific version of creationism. "The
word has been hijacked by a narrow group of creationist fundamentalists
in America to mean something it didn't originally mean at all. It's
another form of the God of the gaps. It's bad theology in that it turns
God once again into the pagan god of thunder and lightning."
