January 27 - The Organic Elite Surrenders to Monsanto: What Now?
Article: Miscellaneous
Comment from
Understand the Times:
My experience with big
corporations like Monsanto and DOW Chemical is that they not only
control governments, they control anyone who comes against them
because they have the means to do so. In this world the means to do
so, means just that: "the means to do so." This can mean "money" or
"Mafia" or a combination of the two.
This is also the way the
New World Order gets their way, made up of the world's wealthy and
the political brokers. This is also the way these same people work
to set up the One World Religion that will have its headquarters in
Rome. This is the way "modern so-called evangelical protestant
Christianity" is controlled - just follow the money, the power, and
you will see who is who and what is what.
"The policy set for GE alfalfa will most
likely guide policies for other GE crops as well. True coexistence
is a must." - Whole Foods Market, Jan. 21,
2011
In the wake of a 12-year battle to keep Monsanto's Genetically
Engineered (GE) crops from contaminating the nation's 25,000 organic
farms and ranches, America's organic consumers
and producers are facing betrayal. A
self-appointed cabal of the Organic Elite, spearheaded by
Whole Foods Market,
Organic Valley,
and
Stonyfield Farm,
has decided it's time to surrender to
Monsanto. Top executives from these companies have publicly
admitted that they no longer oppose
the mass commercialization of GE crops, such as Monsanto's
controversial Roundup Ready alfalfa, and are prepared to sit down
and cut a deal for "coexistence" with Monsanto and USDA biotech
cheerleader Tom Vilsack.
Beyond the regulatory euphemism of "conditional
deregulation," this means that WFM and their colleagues are willing
to go along with the massive planting of a chemical and
energy-intensive GE perennial crop, alfalfa; guaranteed to spread
its mutant genes and seeds across the nation;
guaranteed to contaminate the alfalfa fed to
organic animals; guaranteed to lead to massive poisoning of farm
workers and destruction of the essential soil food web by the toxic
herbicide, Roundup; and guaranteed to produce Roundup-resistant
superweeds that will require even more deadly herbicides such as 2,4
D to be sprayed on millions of acres of alfalfa across the U.S.
In exchange for allowing Monsanto's premeditated
pollution of the alfalfa gene pool, WFM
wants "compensation." In exchange for a new
assault on farmworkers and rural communities (a recent large-scale
Swedish study found that spraying Roundup doubles farm workers' and
rural residents' risk of getting cancer), WFM
expects the pro-biotech USDA to begin to regulate rather than
cheerlead for Monsanto. In payment for a new
broad spectrum attack on the soil's crucial ability to provide
nutrition for food crops and to sequester dangerous greenhouse gases
(recent studies show that Roundup devastates essential soil
microorganisms that provide plant nutrition and sequester
climate-destabilizing greenhouse gases), WFM wants the Biotech Bully
of St. Louis to agree to pay "compensation" (i.e. hush money) to
farmers "for any losses related to the contamination of his crop."
The main reason, however, why Whole Foods is pleading for
coexistence with Monsanto, Dow, Bayer, Syngenta, BASF and the rest
of the biotech bullies, is that
they desperately want the controversy surrounding genetically
engineered foods and crops to go away. Why?
Because they know, just as we do,
that 2/3 of WFM's $9 billion annual
sales is derived from so-called "natural" processed foods and animal
products that are
contaminated with GMOs.

January 28 - Is Murdered Gay Activist David Kato the Gabrielle Giffords of Uganda?
Article: Perilous Times
Comment from Understand
the Times:
No comment necessary
The bludgeoning
death of gay activist David Kato this week in Uganda stunned the gay community
around the world and prompted Kato's angry allies
to point the finger of blame at Christian-fueled
homophobia in the East African nation,
and at conservative Christians in the United States who
have long ties to anti-gay forces in Uganda.
"David's death is a result of the
hatred planted in Uganda by U.S Evangelicals in 2009,"
Val Kalende, the woman who heads "Freedom and Roam Uganda," a gay rights group,
said in a statement. "The Ugandan Government and
the so-called U.S Evangelicals must take responsibility
for David's blood."
The critics say that U.S.-based support was especially
notable in a March 2009 forum in the capital, Kampala, that featured a trio of
well-known Christian pastors from the so-called ex-gay movement. They say
that forum helped inspire Christian parliamentarians in
Uganda to propose draconian measures against gays and lesbians, including a bill
pending in the Ugandan parliament that would allow for the death penalty for
some homosexual activity.
In Washington, Secretary of State Hillary
Clinton said
Kato's killing "is a reminder of the heroic generosity of
the people who advocate for and defend human rights on behalf of the rest of us
-- and the sacrifices they make." And President Obama released
a statement
praising Kato's
courage and pledging that "At home and around the world, LGBT [lesbian, gay,
bisexual, transgendered] persons continue to be subjected to unconscionable
bullying, discrimination, and hate."
Authorities were quick to declare that Kato
was murdered in the course of
a home invasion by a trio of men -- one of whom was in custody at last report --
a sadly prosaic explanation that could in fact turn out to be true given the
volatility of the neighborhood where Kato lived.

January 31 - ST. JOHN BOSCO
Article: Roman Catholic Church And The Last Days
Comment from
Understand the Times:
John Bosco it was
believed, had a ministry of dreams. He was elevated to sainthood
by the pope because of his dreams. He also elevated the pope to
the position of Godhood in the Last Days. According to Bosco,
the pope would become king of the world in the Last Days. He
would launch the boat of St. Peter between two pillars that
would set up his kingship. These two pillars were the pillar of
the Eucharistic Jesus and the pillar of the Queen of Heaven.
This is very
significant, and it can be understood biblically. The Queen of
Heaven in the Bible is nothing but a demonic entity (Jeremiah
chapters 7 and 44). The Eucharistic Jesus is the Jesus that
appears according to Roman Catholic Dogma, when a priest
transubstantiates a wafer into the presence of Jesus. While some
Catholics believe this, most do not. This is why Pope John Paul
had to come up with the New Evangelization Program for
"evangelistic" purposes.
Now here is where it
gets interesting. Nicky Gumbel went to Rome and shook hands with
the Pope and agreed to evangelize together. Brian Broderson,
from Calvary Chapel went to England and met with Nicky Gumbel
and agreed to work together with Nicky. Brian Broderson met
Nicky Gumbel in England a few years ago and the meeting was in
Broderson's words, very positive.
This would mean that
if Brian Broderson heads up Calvary Chapel when Chuck Smith
steps down, Calvary Chapel could be heading to Rome.
Hopefully that will
not happen, but right now there is no one to stop this from
happening.
Today the Church commemorates the life
of St. John Bosco, a priest of humble origins who was devoted to
helping boys make something of themselves. Don Bosco's story is an
inspiring example of God's ability to express his will through
dreams.
It s said that Bosco received his
mission from God in a dream. When he was nine years old, he dreamed
that he was in a field with a group of children. The children
started cursing and fighting, so John tried to stop them. John found
himself to be ineffective because he did exactly what they were
doing to make them stop. All of a sudden, a
man whose face was full of light, covered in a white mantle,
appeared. He made John the leader of the group, saying, "You will
have to win these friends of yours not with blows but with
gentleness and kindness."
Pope Pius XI encouraged Don Bosco to
gather a group together to continue his ministry. With 17 other men,
he founded the Salesians, named after St. Francis de Sales. Later,
he organized a group of Salesian Sisters to minister to girls.
Today, the Salesians are the second largest
religious order in the world. Their ministry continues to serve the
youth by focusing on the whole person, body and soul united.
St. John Bosco died in 1888 at the
age of 73. He is the patron saint of youth,
young apprentices, Catholic publishers and editors.
