May 13 - Pope invites Catholics to pray the Rosary during May
Article: Roman Catholic Church And The Last Days
Comment from
Understand the Times:
The present pope is taking over where
the last pope left off - he is obsessed with the focus on Mary. This is
why it is apparent that ecumenism with Rome is apostasy. No Bible
believing church or fellowship or fellowship of fellowships can link
hands with Rome in any way because of the unbiblical practices that
obviously lead to a religion no different from Babylonianism.
Praying the rosary and focusing on
the adoration of Mary is common to many pagan religions. While the pope
may call this Christianity, it is NOT. Some day, this counterfeit
Christianity will bring the wrath of God.
Pope Benedict XVI issued
a special call to pray the Rosary during May,
the month dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
The pontiff spoke at the conclusion of his May
11 General Audience. He exhorted
"everyone to intensify the pious practice of the Holy Rosary,
especially in this month of May dedicated to the Mother of God."
"I invite you, beloved young people,
to value this traditional Marian prayer, which helps us better
understand and assimilate the central moments of the salvation
wrought by Christ," the Pope said.
He then
encouraged the sick "to turn with confidence to the Virgin through
this pious exercise, entrusting all your needs to her."
He concluded by addressing newlyweds and
inviting them to "make the
recitation of the family Rosary a time of spiritual growth under the
gaze of the Virgin Mary."

News Alert - May 23 - Knights of the Holy Eucharist Call Us to Genuine Eucharistic Faith
Article: One World Relgion
Comment from
Understand the Times:
Those who are moving
together to form a one world religion with Rome for the cause of
peace should watch this video on Eucharistic adoration. They
should also read the highlights from the article before they get
too far down the road to Rome.
By saying nothing,
pastors are saying something. By not exposing the error of
ecumenism, they are supporting ecumenism with Rome which is
idolatry and will be judged by God.
Did your church have
a lent service this Easter? Did your church support the peace
treaty with Rick Warren and Tony Blair? Does your church support
the Billy Graham Association? Does your church support the Greg
Laurie Harvest Crusade, when religious leaders from Calvary
Chapel openly promoted Rick Warren who is a protege of Peter
Drucker's 666 plan.
It is time to wake
up!
Founded in 1998 for the service of the Shrine of the Most
Blessed Sacrament and the protection of the Poor Clares of
Perpetual Adoration residing at Our Lady of the Angels
Monastery in Hanceville, AL, the Knights
live totally committed to adoring our
Eucharistic King and to making known His Real Presence in
the Holy Eucharist.
The survey data of nearly two
decades ago sent shock waves throughout much of the Catholic
Church: According to a 1992 Roper poll and a later 1994 New
York Times/CBS News poll, as many as
70 percent of U.S. Catholics no longer believed
in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the
Eucharist - the fundamental Catholic doctrine that the bread
and wine consecrated by the priest at Mass become the true
body and blood, soul, and divinity of Christ while the
appearances of bread and wine remain.
Many of the Catholic faithful
and their leaders refused to take this depressing news lying
down. In fact, the posture for many
became that of kneeling down-stepping up the practice and
promotion of Eucharistic adoration as a way of fostering
sound catechesis and reverence for the Real Presence.
In the intervening years,
popes, bishops, pastors, and lay organizations
have encouraged this pious practice in
word and action. Youth retreat apostolates increasingly have
incorporated adoration of the Blessed Sacrament into their
work. Dioceses and archdioceses, including St. Louis,
Atlanta, San Antonio, Bridgeport, and St. Paul-Minneapolis,
have vigorously worked at establishing
Eucharistic exposition and Benediction in their parishes.
The Knights of the Holy
Eucharist seek to provide just such examples in their
apostolate among the faithful who visit the monastery and
its magnificent shrine, where they serve as caretakers,
sacristans, and servers.
Even non-Catholics are drawn to the presence of Christ as
reflected in the beauty of the environment and the reverence
demonstrated there.
"I can say that the Shrine of the Most
Blessed Sacrament draws many who are seeking a deeper union
with our Eucharistic Lord. We continue to receive large
numbers of Protestants who are looking for answers,"
he said. "They
sense the presence of God once they enter our gate; they
continue that journey in search of their divine Lord."
Furthermore, the Knights help
maintain reverence for the Blessed Sacrament by
ensuring that pilgrims are modestly
attired, that a sacred silence is maintained in the church,
and that the environment as a whole evokes a sense of peace
and serenity conducive to meditation and contemplation.

May 16 - Physicist Stephen Hawking Says There Is No Heaven
Article: Miscellaneous
Stephen Hawking --- the
world-renowned theoretical physicist --
finds no room for heaven in his vision of the cosmos.
In an interview published
Monday in The Guardian newspaper, the 69-year-old says the human brain is
like a computer that will stop working when its components fail.
"There is no heaven or afterlife for broken-down
computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark,"
Hawking told the paper.
It's not the first time the
world-renowned thinker has made controversial statements about religion and
the existence of God. In "Grand Design," a book Hawking published last year,
the physicist declared that it was "not
necessary to invoke God ... to get the universe going."
In an interview with
Diane Sawyer last June, Hawking noted that
"there is a
fundamental difference between religion, which is based on authority, and
science, which is based on observation and reason. Science will
win, because it works."
He has maintained this
position since very early in his career, telling German newsmagazine Der
Speigel in 1988 that "what I have done is to show that it is possible for
the way the universe began to be determined by the laws of science. In that
case, it would not be necessary to appeal
to God to decide how the universe began. This doesn't prove that there is no
God, only that God is not necessary," he said.
Interestingly, Hawking has
also made headlines in recent years over the existence
of aliens -- and what interactions between our races would be like.
"If aliens ever visit us, I think the
outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America,
which didn't turn out very well for the Native Americans,"
he said.

May 19 - Netanyahu Rejects Obama Call for Palestinian State Based on 1967 Borders
Artcle: Israel And The Last Days
Israeli Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu swiftly rejected
President Obama's call Thursday for Israel to pull back to the
borders that existed before the 1967 Six-Day War, calling those
lines militarily "indefensible."
Obama, in a sweeping
address tackling the uprisings in the Middle East and the stalled
peace process, stunned Washington
and Jerusalem by endorsing Palestinians' demand for their own state
based on the pre-1967 borders. The break with longstanding U.S.
policy appeared to immediately aggravate the Israelis,
who want the borders of any future Palestinian state determined
through negotiations.
In a statement
released late Thursday, Netanyahu said such a
withdrawal would jeopardize Israel's security and leave major West
Bank settlements outside Israeli borders.
"Israel appreciates
President Obama's commitment to peace," the statement said.
"Israel believes that for peace to
endure between Israelis and Palestinians, the viability of a
Palestinian state cannot come at the expense of the viability of the
one and only Jewish state. That is why Prime Minister Netanyahu
expects to hear a reaffirmation from President Obama of U.S.
commitments made to Israel in 2004. ... Among other things, those
commitments relate to Israel not having to withdraw to the 1967
lines."
"The status quo is
unsustainable," Obama said. "A
lasting peace will involve two states for two peoples."
"We cannot hesitate to stand squarely on the
side of those who are reaching for their rights, knowing that their
success will bring about a world that is more peaceful, more stable,
and more just," he said. Obama, in his strongest
words to date, offered an ultimatum to Syrian President Bashar
Assad. "President Assad now has a
choice. He can lead that transition or get out of the way,"
Obama said.
Rather, Obama said:
"A new generation has emerged and
their voices tell us that change cannot be denied."

May 20 - Forming a religious identity "without antagonism" in young Christians and Muslims
Article: Ecumenical Movement - Roman Catholics Uniting With Other religions
Education, religious in
particular, should not form identities in antagonism or
in conflict, but on the contrary, while helping the
youth to be well rooted in their own religious identity,
it should favor the formation of identities open to
other identities. This appears to
have been the main focus of discussions in a meeting
between the Pontifical Council for Interreligious
Dialogue and the Institute for the Amman based Royal
Institute for Interfaith Studies (R.I.I.F.S.), held in
Rome on "Human and
religious values shared by Christians and Muslims for a
common education. "
"Christians and Muslims
- reads a statement released after the meeting
- share basic human values
like the sacred character of human life, human dignity and
the fundamental inalienable rights deriving from it."
As for
the religious values, "some of them
are common to Christians and Muslims, meanwhile others are
specific of each community. It is therefore
important to point out commonalities and to identify
differences. Respect for differences is in fact an important
condition for an authentic dialogue".
"A
privileged space of common education is that of the schools,
institutions and universities, private and public,
where Christian and Muslim
children and youth study together. Such an experience is to
be conserved and cherished, also because it gives the
occasion to create strong and permanent friendships. "

May 9 - End is in sight for roll calls as schools face the future
Article: Technology For Global Monetary System
AN Irish
software firm has brought the traditional school attendance
register into the computer age.
Two schools have already adopted the latest
face-recognition technology to monitor attendance and
timekeeping among thousands of pupils, and other
schools are planning to introduce the system from September.
Students simply
look at a device when they
arrive at school and, within seconds, they are scanned,
identified and their attendance is registered.
It saves hours of teachers' time recording attendance and 'lates',
and provides an at-a-glance record of who's in and who's out. It
also makes it easy to track poor attendance or lateness
patterns, which would allow for early intervention to nip a
problem in the bud. And it overcomes the so-called 'buddy
punching' problem, where a student can make a false registration
by swiping in someone else's card.
Face-recognition software is now widely used as an ID
system, but this is the first time it has been adopted by
schools in this country.
"Within five minutes of school starting,
we know exactly who is in the building and if students come in
late, it will show up," Ms O'Donnell said.
It is too
early to say what impact the system will have on attendance and
timekeeping, but when fully
operational she said it would allow them to build up attendance
profiles.
Sixth-year
student Luke O'Callaghan-White (17),
said there were a few 'Big Brother'-style
jokes initially, but that had all passed. He
said the system was "straightforward, efficient and preferable
to a year head interrupting the first class for five minutes" to
take a roll.

May 12 - VISA launching 'digital wallet' for U.S. banks
Article: Technology For Global Monetary System
Visa Inc, the world's largest
credit and debit card processing network,
is building a digital wallet that people can use to pay for
things online or with their phones instead of with
traditional cards.
The network said on Wednesday
it is working with several
large U.S. and international banks to develop the wallet.
Its partners include US Bancorp, PNC Financial Services,
Regions Financial, BB&T Corp, Toronto Dominion's TD Bank and
the U.S. arm of Barclays PLC.
The "digital wallet"
will store the banks'
customers' credit and debit card account information, both
for Visa cards and other cards. People can use the wallet to
pay for things online or in stores, Visa
said.
The network will also have to
convince merchants to put a
new "one-click" button on their websites, so that potential
customers can use their Visa digital wallets to buy things
by clicking the button instead of by manually entering all
of their account information every time they want to make an
online purchase.
Jim McCarthy, Visa's head of
global products, told Reuters in an interview on Wednesday
that mobile payments in the
United States "will more easily take off" from people using
their smartphones' browsers to buy things online.
But Visa and its rivals,
including MasterCard Inc, American Express Co and Discover
Financial Services, are
also trying to figure out ways for people to buy things with
their phones in physical stores.
