June 21 - New Agers, neo-pagans at Stonehenge for solstice
Article: New Age
A damp overcast morning
has failed to deter thousands of people
gathered at Stonehenge to celebrate the summer solstice.
Around
18,000 neo-pagans, new agers and curious visitors gathered Tuesday in
heavy rain to watch the sun rise over the ancient stone circle on the
Salisbury Plain about 80 miles (130 kilometers) southwest of London.
The celebrations are a modern twist on solstice
celebrations that were a highlight of the pre-Christian calendar.
Police say the event was good natured but 20 people were arrested for
drug and public disorder offenses.
Stonehenge was built
in three phases between 3000 B.C. and 1600 B.C. It is one of Britain's
most popular tourist attractions with
over 850,000 visitors a year.

June 22 - Tsunami Warning Called Off After 6.7-Quake Strikes Japan
Article: Signs Of The Last Times
A 6.7-magnitude earthquake off of Japan's pacific coast
struck at about 21:50 UTC or early Thursday in Japan.
A tsunami
warning was quickly issued due to the quake but later canceled about an
hour later.
Japanese and U.S. meteorologist agencies detected
the earthquake and located the epicenter to be about 330 miles (530 km)
north-east of Tokyo.
According to CNN.com,
8,000 people from the cities of Kamaishi and Ofunato, coastal cities,
were ordered to evacuate and so far there have been no reported deaths
or injuries.
This tremor may have been generated as an
aftershock of the quake that hit Japan in March which killed 23,000,
although this statement is yet to be confirmed.

June 23 - G-20 introduces food tracking system to stabilize prices
Article: One World Government
Comment from
Understand the Times:
For years, Bible prophecy
believers have realized that the world's food supply will be used to
control the world's population. This article shows how close this is
to happening. If you do not believe the Bible, you should.
The largest economies in
the world agreed Thursday to a series of measures to stabilize world
food prices after years of sudden fluctuations caused global
instability, especially in poorer countries.
French Agriculture
Minister Bruno Le Maire said the G-20 summit of agriculture
ministers had agreed to calm the world market
by establishing a transparent system to track
global supplies, emergency food reserves, engage in more research
into new wheat strains and create a rapid response mechanism to deal
with drought in producer countries.
"It
is a tour de force for the international community that
lets you still believe in the power of solidarity and working
together to address the big questions facing the planet, like the
future of world agriculture," he told
journalists.
In a reflection of the
seriousness of the crisis, this is
the first time agriculture and food security have been made a G20
summit topic.
"We all recognize the
necessity of putting in place on
the market of agricultural products new rules and regulations,"
Le Maire said.
One of the key aspects of
the new accord is the Agricultural
Market Information System that would stave off panic food
speculation by making instantly available to all countries the state
of world food stocks and consumption, Zoellick
explained.
"What we saw when prices
started to surge in 2008 was that the lack of
information on stocks and availability can lead to panic in markets
and panic is what leads to price hikes," said Zoellick. "Uncertainty
leads to volatility."

News Alert - June 24 - Congress on Eucharistic Adoration meets in Rome
Article: One World Religion
Comment
from Understand the Times: :
This video
clip is a must watch by all those who are on the road to Rome and
know it, or on the road to Rome and don't know it. Do you want to
bow down and worship a wafer instead of Jesus Christ our Savior?
The Roman
Catholic Church led by the Jesuits has implemented a make believe
policy that Jesus is present in the wafer that is consecrated by a
priest during mass. This is supposed to be the only true Jesus. If
you don't worship this Jesus, you are NOT a Christian according to
the policy endorsed by Rome.
Watch the
clip and see if you still want to be led like a sheep to slaughter
or if you will stand up and refuse to be manipulated like those in
the past who were even willing to give their life for true biblical
faith.

June 24 - Obama to Gays: Re-Elect Me and 'I Promise You We Will Write Another Chapter' in Your Story
Artcle: Perilous Times
Treading carefully, President
Barack Obama praised New York state lawmakers who were debating landmark
legislation Thursday to legalize gay marriage, saying that's what
democracy's all about. But as expected, the
president stopped short of embracing same-sex
marriage himself, instead asking gay and lesbian donors for patience.
"I believe that gay couples deserve the same legal
rights as every other couple in this country," the
president said at a Manhattan fundraiser, his first geared specifically
to the gay community. Coincidentally, the long-planned event occurred
just as lawmakers in Albany were debating legislation that would make
New York the sixth and by far the largest state to legalize gay
marriage.
That served to spotlight the president's
own views on same-sex marriage, a sore point with gay supporters who've
otherwise warmed to Obama. The president has said
his views are "evolving," but for now he supports
civil unions, not same-sex marriage.
Obama said progress will be slower than
some people want, but he added that he
was confident that there will be a day "when every single American, gay
or straight or lesbian or bisexual or transgender, is free to live and
love as they see fit.
"Traditionally marriage has been decided
by the states and right now I understand there's a little debate going
on here in New York," he said to laughter.
New York's lawmakers, he said, are "doing exactly
what democracies are supposed to do."
Obama told of receiving a letter last
year from a teenager in a small town. He said the boy was a senior in
high school who was gay and was afraid to come out. The boy wondered to
the president why gays shouldn't be equal like everyone else.
"So, yes, we have more work to do,"
Obama said. "Yes, we have
more progress to make. Yes, I expect continued
impatience with me on occasion."
In a direct appeal for votes, Obama said:
"With your help, if you keep up the fight, if you will devote your time
and your energies to this campaign one more time, I promise you we will
write another chapter in that story. ... I'll be standing there, right
there with you."

June 27 - More Anglicans Complete Ordination into Catholic Church
Article: Brdges To Rome
Three more
former Anglican priests have been ordained into the Roman Catholic
Church at the weekend
Earlier this month The Christian Post
reported how seven
former Church of England clergy were ordained into the Ordinariate, as
part of a series of ordinations taking place over Pentecost.
A number of those joining the new
Ordinariate have said they were forced
to take action following the Church of England's increasing acceptance
of same-sex blessings and gay clergy. Others have also cited the
Church's movement towards accepting women bishops as a reason to defect
to the Catholic Church.
According to the BBC, one of the three,
Father Elliott, resigned from his post as the Anglican vicar of Holy
Trinity in Reading in April. He moved to the
Catholic Church, taking 15 of his congregants with him. Elliot
has said he felt urged to take the
action following Pope
Benedict extending a "hand of friendship".
In
excess of 900 laity have already moved to the Catholic Church and have
been waiting for their clergy to complete training for Catholic
priesthood at a seminary in West London.
According to The Times in London, Keith
Newton, who heads up the Ordinariate, has explained
that dozens more Church of England clergy are
currently also considering their positions within the Anglican Church.
Newton told The Times,
"Every week somebody writes or e-mails asking how
they can join the Ordinariate. They are often people
I have never heard of before."
The Vatican announced in 2009 that it
would introduce a new church structure
that would allow former Anglicans to enter into "full communion" with
the Catholic Church while preserving their Anglican traditions.
Pope Benedict made the provision in response to the
numerous requests he received from Anglicans who were unhappy with the
ordination of women and noncelibate gay bishops.

June 24 - What would Jesus think? Churches now promote Islam / 'Spiritual treason' seen as 'something hostile to Jesus Christ himself'
Article: Ecumenical Movement - Christianity Uniiting With Other Religions
Dozens
of Christian churches, from Park Hill Congregational in
Denver to Hillview United Methodist
in Boise, Idaho, and First United Lutheran
in San Francisco to St. Elizabeth's
Episcopal Church in Honolulu, are
planning to send "a message both here at home
and to the Arab and Muslim world about our respect for Islam" with a time to
read the Quran during worship this Sunday.
It's not just wrong, but dangerous, according to Christian
trends analysts.
The aim of the program, which is promoted by
social activists behind the Faith Shared website, is to counter the message from
Islamic activists who say opposition to their religion is the product of what
they call a cottage industry of hate.
So the Interfaith Alliance and Human Rights First
is calling on Christian clergy to read portions of the Quran during their
services Sunday. The readings,
supporters say, will "counter the anti-Muslim
bigotry and negative stereotypes that have erupted throughout the country in the
past year and led to misconceptions, distrust and in some cases, violence."
Not so fast, says apprising.org religious trends analyst Ken
Silva. "I would think they need to have their
spiritual heads examined. It's foolish to think that we're going to read
something that originates with demons and read that in a Christian church,"
Silva said. The action
amounts to "spiritual treason," he asserted.
But Silva said, "Second Corinthians 6:14-18 (the verse warning against
partnering light with darkness)
says we're forbidden to
do that kind of thing. It's one thing to be friendly with someone in Islam, but
it's a whole other thing in a Christian community to be reading something that
is antithetical to Christianity and is hostile to Jesus Christ himself."

June 20 - Number Of Recorded Earthquakes Rises Sharply
Article: Signs Of The Last Times
2011
is on target to record the largest number of earthquakes in a single
year for at least 12 years.
Research by Irish
Weather Online, using data from the US Geological Survey (USGS), has
found that earthquake activity (5.0-9.9 magnitude) from 01 January to 19
June 2011 is already exceeding the
total annual seismic activity for the years 2001, 2002 and 2003. 2011's
total number of recorded earthquakes is also expected to exceed the most
seismically active year of the past 12 years, 2007.
A total of 1,445 earthquakes, ranging in magnitude from 5.0 to
9.9, have been recorded in the year up to 19 June. The total number of
earthquakes recorded globally for the entire of 2007 was 2,270.
The massive earthquakes
in Japan (2011), Chile (2010), Sichuan (2008), Sumatra (2005 and 2008)
and Indonesia (2004) have served to remind us of the devastating impact
of earthquakes on life and property. While the number of earthquakes
ranging between 8.0 magnitude and 9.9 magnitude have shown no
significant increases in recent years,
the number of earthquakes ranging 5.0 magntiude to 7.9 magnitude is
rising. In particular there has been a sharp rise during the past 12
years of moderate earthquakes in the range 5-6.9.
In the last 24 hours
alone earthquakes ranging 5 magnitude
or more have hit Tonga, Fiji, Panama, the South Sandwich Islands, Japan,
Papua New Guinea, Peru and Indonesia.
Seismologists argue that
an increase in detected earthquakes does not necessarily represent an
increase in actual earthquakes. The USGS, for example, says improved
global communication and enhancements in detection technology have both
contributed to higher earthquake numbers being recorded over time.
According to the USGS: "Although it may seem that we are having more
earthquakes, earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or greater have remained
fairly constant throughout this century and, according to our records,
have actually seemed to decrease in recent years."
Commenting on swarm
earth activity in a specific geographical area, the USGS said :" A
temporal increase in earthquake activity does not mean that a large
earthquake is about to happen. Similarly, quiescence, or the lack of
seismicity, does not mean a large earthquake is going to happen. A
temporary increase or decrease in the seismicity rate is usually just
part of the natural variation in the seismicity.
There is no way for us to know whether or not this time it will lead to
a larger earthquake. Swarms of small events,
especially in geothermal areas, are common, and moderate-large magnitude
earthquakes will typically have an aftershock sequence that follows. All
that is normal and expected earthquake activity."

June 27 - Eucharistic adoration could transform the English Church in the not too distant future
Article: One World Religion
Comment from Understand the Times:
Some may be
wondering why UTT has been pointing readers to so many articles
about the eucharist. The reason is because there are so many
articles about eucharistic adoration because the pope is weaving the
strings towards the One World Religion. The Roman Catholic dogma is
based on the ideas that the priest can conjure up Jesus so that
"Jesus" is present in a monstrance.
When this
happens, look out. Bible prophecy will have been fulfilled, and
lying signs and wonders will be everywhere there is a Roman Catholic
Church.
First, we see a pedestrian
area in a shopping street in Preston, Lancashire. It could be
anywhere in the country. Suddenly, there appears a Franciscan friar.
He puts on a white priestly stole. Then he rummages in the bag he is
carrying and takes out a charged monstrance, which he lifts up on
high. One person comes out of the
crowd and kneels. Another friar reads out a long
series of Old Testament prophecies about Jesus, and new Testament
references to him; interspersed in this list is the refrain
"Come and kneel before him now".
Little by little, more and more do; by the time this extraordinary
event has finished, there is a sizable kneeling crowd, which in the
end burst into amazed and excited applause. Then, it is over. The
friar replaces the monstrance in his bag, and walks away.
It is a very extraordinary
thing that one of the despised "popular devotions" which those who
went on and on, 30 years ago, about the so-called spirit of Vatican
II really thought could safely be junked
(along with devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, so
unecumenical) as part of their supposed "renewal" of the Church was
adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Today, the renewal of the
Church, this time the genuine article, means bringing it back.
On Sunday (when we kept
Corpus Christi), the Pope told a crowd of 30,000 at the Angelus that
the Eucharist "constitutes the
Church's most precious treasure". It is "like the beating heart that
gives life to the whole mystical body of the Church, a social
organism based on the spiritual but real tie to Christ":
"Without the Eucharist, the Church simply would not
exist. In fact, it is the Eucharist that transforms a human
community into a mystery of communion, capable of bringing God
to the world and the world to God. The Holy Spirit, which
transforms bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ,
transforms all those who receive it with faith into members of
the body of Christ, so that the Church is really a sacrament of
unity of men with God and among themselves."
The day before, Bishop
Mark Davies of Shrewsbury had said that
Catholics should "ask our Lord what he has in
mind for you" by meeting Christ "present among us in the Blessed
Sacrament of the altar". Bishop Davies added
that "I would like to say to each of you that
where the Holy Eucharist is found you will
also find the answer to the greatest questions of your lifetime".

June 28 - Bill Gates, Monsanto hijack 'humanitarian aid' efforts to push GMO agenda
Article: One World Government
Those still in
denial about the connection between
the so-called "humanitarian" efforts of
the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the bigger agenda to
thrust genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) on the populations
of the world (among other things), need look no further than the
Golden Rice Project (GRP) for proof that things are not as they
seem. Hailed as the solution to
"micronutrient deficiencies in developing countries," GRP is
actually nothing more than an
attempted Trojan horse to usher GMOs into countries that have
thus far rejected them.
According to a recent story published by
Food Consumer, the Bill &
Melinda Gates Foundation has donated $20 million to develop
"golden rice,"
a type of GM rice that allegedly contains higher than normal
levels of vitamin A. Monsanto, creator of
this "Frankenrice," claims the crop will help end the epidemic
of vitamin A deficiency (VAD) that afflicts many living in poor
Asian countries. Sounds great, right? Except for the fact that
introducing the rice threatens to actually worsen the VAD
crisis, and promote economic and ecological debacles of epic
proportions.
"Golden rice is a Trojan horse for pushing through GE-friendly
biosafety regulations under the guise of humanitarian aid,"
reports Food Freedom. "Once in place, these regulations
open the door for the biotech industry to bring in commercial,
patented GE crops; USAID and Monsanto accomplished exactly this
in Kenya with their sweet potato project."
Monsanto repeatedly uses the same strategy to sneak its
Frankencrops into poor countries.
It grabs hold of a food or agricutlure crisis, and claims it has
the solution. Its solution, of course, is always the same --
persuade farmers to adopt its patented crops, and lock them into
a system where they must rely on Monsanto for expensive
pesticides and the yearly purchase of new, self-destructing GM
seeds.

June 29 - Minnesota Next Battleground for Homosexual Marriage
Article: Perilous Times
Coming on the heels of New York's
legalization of same-sex marriage,
Minnesota is set to be one of the next battleground states for this
controversial issue. A proposed constitutional amendment on the 2012
ballot would limit marriage to one man and one woman.
Although Republicans who were strong-armed by
Governor Andrew Cuomo were key to same-sex marriage passing in New York,
voters are a much harder sell. Pro-marriage organizations such as the
National Organization for Marriage and the Minnesota Family Council have a
31-state winning streak on their side when it comes to putting the issue
before the people. Interestingly, former Governor Tim Pawlenty and Rep.
Michele Bachmann will each have their own say in the matter since both are
registered voters in the state. Both Pawlenty and Bachmann support a federal
constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman.
In 2004, then state Senator Michele Bachmann
introduced a marriage amendment that was defeated. The state's governor at
the time was Tim Pawlenty who promised to
sign any pro-marriage legislation that crossed his desk.
"Our legislature wisely
decided to let the people decide the issue of marriage - not
politicians or activist judges," said
Darrell. "For an eighteen month period people are going to talk about the
issue around the dinner table, at work and at the coffee shop.
I'm confident Minnesotans will come to the conclusion
that marriage is important and needs to be protected. We're looking forward
to a civilized debate on the issue."
Monica Meyer of OutFront Minnesota told AP,
"These ballot measures are so expensive and so
divisive. If we can defeat this, it sends a strong message that at some
point soon these things just aren't going to be brought up at all anymore."
Bobbie Patray of
Eagle Forum of Tennessee is no stranger to marriage issues. In 2006, she was
a key player in helping pass Tennessee's constitutional amendment, stating
marriage was between one man and one woman.
"My concern is how and when we use the word
'marriage,'" said Patray.
"Marriage is defined biblically as a covenant between one man and one woman.
Anything else is simply a union or a legal contract. When voters are
reminded of the true definition of marriage, they tend to agree it should be
between a man and a woman."

June 29 - UK: Iran conducting secret ballistic missile tests
Article: Wars and Runors Of Wars
Britain's foreign secretary said Wednesday
that Iran had conducted covert tests of
ballistic missiles alongside a 10-day program of public military
maneuvers.
William
Hague told the House of Commons that there had been
secret experiments with missiles and rocket
launchers. "Iran has ... been
carrying out covert ballistic missile tests and rocket launches,
including testing missiles capable of delivering a nuclear
payload," Hague said in a statement covering the
Middle East and North Africa.
Iran
has said it intends to triple its capacity to produce 20 percent
enriched uranium, "levels far greater
than is needed for peaceful nuclear energy," he
said.
Britain
believes Tehran has conducted at least
three secret tests of medium-range ballistic missiles since October.
"These tests are provocative acts,
directly contrary to Iran's obligations under U.N. (Security Council
Resolutions)," a spokesman for the British Foreign
and commonwealth Office told msnbc.com.
Iran, at
loggerheads with the West over its nuclear program,
is carrying out a 10-day military exercise in a
show of strength it hopes will warn Israel and the United States against
any attack. The U.S. and its allies insist it is
aimed at developing atomic weapons - a charge Iran rejects.
A senior
Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander said Tuesday that
his country has the ability to produce missiles
with an even greater range than those currently in its arsenal.
But Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Guard's Aerospace
Force, stressed that Tehran will not manufacture such missiles
because Israel and U.S. bases in the Gulf
are already within reach.

June 27 - Alien encounters 'within twenty years'
Article: Rising Interest In The Supernatural
Russian scientists
expect humanity to encounter alien
civilizations within the next two decades, a top
Russian astronomer said on Monday.
"The genesis of life is as inevitable as the
formation of atoms ... Life exists on other planets and we will find it
within 20 years," said Andrei Finkelstein, director
of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Applied Astronomy Institute,
according to the Interfax news agency.
Speaking at an
international forum dedicated to the search for extraterrestrial life,
Finkelstein said 10% of the known planets circling suns in the galaxy
resemble Earth. If water can be found there, then so can life, he said,
adding that aliens would most likely
resemble humans with two arms, two legs and a head. "They may have
different colour skin, but even we have that," he
said.
Finkelstein's
institute runs a programme launched in the 1960s at the height of the
cold war space race to watch for and beam out radio signals to outer
space.
"The whole time we have been searching for
extraterrestrial civilisations, we have mainly been waiting for messages
from space and not the other way," he said
