May 11 - Pope to create Australian ordinariate for Anglicans
Artical: Bridges To Rome
Pope Benedict XVI will
continue the expansion of the new
Catholic Church structure created for former Anglicans by launching an
ordinariate for Australia on June 15.
"I am confident that those former Anglicans who
have made a journey in faith that has led them to the Catholic Church
will find a ready welcome," said Archbishop Denis
Hart of Melbourne, who serves as president of the Australian Catholic
Bishops Conference.
Australia's Anglican
ordinariate will be called the Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern
Cross, under the patronage of St. Augustine of Canterbury. It will have
the status of a diocese.
The ordinariate is intended for Anglicans and former
Anglicans who wish to enter full communion with the Catholic Church
while retaining some of their customs and liturgical traditions.
The Australian
bishops have put in place procedures to
help Anglican clergy and laity join the Catholic Church through the
ordinariate, the bishops said May 11.
In England and Wales
there are at least 40 ordinariate groups with 60
priests, the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham magazine The Portal
reports. Several of its members are former Anglican bishops. As
of January, 1,400 individuals from 22
communities have expressed interest in joining, the U.S. ordinariate.
About 60 current or former Anglican priests are preparing to be ordained
Catholic priests for it, according to the
Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter.

May 16 - Gov't green lights 'smart' ID cards program
Artical: Technology For Global Monetary System
The Knesset
Constitution, Law and Justice Committee approved changes to the Population
Registry regulations on Wednesday - including regarding the issuance of
planned new "smart" electronic ID cards. The
approval gives the green light for the Population Registry
to begin a two-year pilot of the
smart ID cards in the near future.
Under the
proposals, citizens receiving a smart ID
card will also be given a personal password granting access to read data
stored on the card's electronic chip. That password can
be changed, should a citizen request it.
Civil rights
attorneys have criticized the smart ID card proposals,
particularly plans to include biometric data such as
fingerprints, on the cards. Opponents of the biometric
ID card plans, including attorney Avner Pinchuk from the Association for
Civil Rights in Israel, have warned of
"irreversible damage" should Israelis' biometric data, including
fingerprints, be leaked. ACRI says such
a leak could greatly increase the
risk of identity theft, and that this is a particular concern in the wake of
a massive Population Registry data theft.
The committee
also approved adding new
personal information to the main body of ID cards.
Israelis registered as of "no
religion" and who chose to marry under the partnership covenant law will be
recorded on their ID cards as a "partner in a partnership covenant."
New ID cards
will also record the ID
numbers of a person's spouse and those of any children, as well as the name
of the person's grandfather. Where appropriate and if a parent requests it,
the ID card will record that a child has died and state the date of death.

May 17 - Iranian Calls for 'Islamic Awakening' to Destroy Israel
Artical: Israel And The Last Days
An Iranian official
called this week for an 'Islamic
Awakening' movement to help Palestinian Authority Arabs "demolish the
Zionist regime", the IRNA news agency
reported. The comments were made at a conference in Tehran in honor of
Nakba Day - the day of catastrophe - which is what the Arabs call the
English date of May 15, when the State of Israel was re-established with
a declaration of independence in 1948.
Sheikholeslam said that
"In near future the Islamic Awakening movement would also swallow the
Zionist regime."
The first speaker at
the conference, according to IRNA, was the PA Ambassador in
Tehran, Salah Zawawi, who said that the
one and only way to soothe the Arabs' pains and agony is the
annihilation of the Zionist regime.
"Turning the Palestinians into homeless people is
a Zionist-western plot to enable the illegal Zionist immigrants to
settle down at our ancestors' motherlands, over the ruins of our homes,"
he said. "So long
as the entire Palestinian groups have not united and each group is
merely heeding its own factional interests the problems of this detached
part of the Islamic world would never be solved," he
added.
Zawawi said that
other Islamic countries should hold a
conference aimed at surveying and finding a final solution for the
"Palestinian issue" and added, "The Palestinian prisoners are not
terrorists; they are merely brave men and women, defending their own
motherland."
Abbas also claimed
that Israel intentionally harms the Muslim and Christian holy sites in
Jerusalem, saying, "The Al-Aqsa Mosque
is being targeted by the occupation and together with the extremists has
become the main target. They are trying to make Muslims and Christians
flee the city by imposing heavy taxes, a policy which can only be called
ethnic cleansing."

May 15 - Virgin Mary 'greatest source of hope' for Europe's crisis
Artical: Roman Catholic Church And The Last Days
A top Vatican official
called the Virgin Mary the "greatest source of
hope" during the economic crisis now facing Spain and most of the
countries of Europe.
Cardinal Antonio Canizares, prefect of
the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the
Sacraments, made his remarks during the traditional "Missa d'Infants"
(Children's Mass) in Valencia. The outdoor Mass at Virgin Mary Square is
the largest celebration in honor of the Blessed Mother under the
patronage of "Our Lady of Abandoned Children." Dozens of children's
choirs participate in the Mass each year.
During his homily, the cardinal said
devotion to Mary is especially important "during the difficult times of
our life, amidst the great difficulties we are experiencing" and as
society faces a "critical hour" in history.
He went on to say that at the root of the
massive crisis facing the country, and the real problem facing mankind,
"is the breakdown of humanity, the lack of a true vision of man, who is
inseparable from God."
"He loses his dignity and becomes the
mere product of blind evolution, to be used and abused." Only in God and
with God, who loves man unconditionally,
"as we feel in Mary, will the change that the earth needs come to pass,"
he said.

May 11 - Bobby Schuller to Preach on Mother's Day as Crystal Cathedral Honors Mother Teresa
Artical: Miscellaneous
Comment from Understand the Times:
If Rick
Warren has stated that Mother Teresa is one of the greatest
evangelists of the 20th century, it would be fair to have Warren
clarify what he means by an evangelist. Mother Teresa stated on
numerous occasions that "doing good" was the ticket to heaven. She
believed it did not matter what religion you were, just as long as
you were a good person.
Rick Warren
continues to confuse people from understanding the gospel of Jesus
Christ according to the scriptures. His gospel is the same as Mother
Teresa's. The gospel of doing good is another gospel that is being
set up for another Christ by another spirit.
The sad part
of all this is that many are being seduced by the Rick Warren-Mother
Teresa gospel and apparently do not know it. A perfect example of
this would be the Calvary Chapel - Rick Warren partnership that is
presently developing.
Crystal Cathedral, the Garden
Grove, Calif., megachurch known for its "Hour of Power" broadcasts,
will this weekend during its celebration of Mother's Day,
honor Roman Catholic icon Mother Teresa of
Calcutta and feature a special sermon from the
Rev. Bobby Schuller.
Mother Teresa, humanitarian,
laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize and
a recognized blessed figure of the Catholic
Church, has been popular with Christians, including evangelicals.
Saddleback Church pastor Rick Warren, who is one of the most popular
evangelical figures in America, has written the
forward to a book released by Time magazine about the renowned nun
of Calcutta. Warren praises Mother
Teresa as one of the greatest evangelists of the 20th century.
Albert
Mohler, the ninth president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
in Louisville, Ky., has written about Mother Teresa, saying: "The
remarkable nun had achieved world-wide recognition for her work
among those she identified as 'the poorest of the poor,' and that
recognition was richly deserved."
Despite being lauded by
many as providing a true example of evangelism and self-sacrificing
service, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate, who passed away in 1997,
remains a somewhat controversial figure among some observers. Mother
Teresa's diaries, published in 2002, revealed that
she was tormented by a crisis of faith
for 50 years, which made some critics question Pope John Paul II's
decision to support her speedy beatification after her death.
The ministry, founded in
1955 by Robert H. Schuller and his wife Arvella, has been struggling
financially for years. In Oct. 2010, the church filed for Chapter 11
bankruptcy protection, and in February of this year, its lofty glass
property in Garden Grove was sold
to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange County. The congregation has
less than three years to find new premises while it leases the
property from the Diocese.
