February 7 - Mary, Mother of Saints, Mother of All
Article: Roman Catholic Church And The Last Days
Comment
from Understand the Times:
Unbiblical
Roman Catholic heresy...
Motherhood and
abortion are two topics often viewed as separate. In fact, we
tend to focus almost exclusively on the child when condemning
the act. However, maternal love seen as an absolute value must
not be absent when addressing the tragedy of killing the unborn.
For children to be safe from harm, nothing must come between
mothers and their children.
As Catholics, we have a special knowledge of what having a
mother means. Maternal love surrounds us, engulfs us, and
consoles us in our churches, our homes and in our prayers.
Our heavenly mother listens and
speaks to us, and comforts us in many guises. She is present to
us under many names, such as Mother of Mercy, Mother of Help,
Mother of Divine Grace, and many more. Her splendid iconography
is omnipresent like the crucifix, her love shining forth through
the radiance of her face. Yet her loving presence is always
gentle. We know that she is always our last resort.

February 10 - Francis: "When at Mass, don't look at your watch counting down the minutes till it's over"
Article: Roman Catholic Church And The Last Days
Mass offers the opportunity to
rediscover the real presence of God and enter into the mystery of the Lord. This
was Francis' message at today's mass in St. Martha's House.
"The Lord speaks to His people in
many ways: through the prophets, the priests, the Sacred Scriptures.
But with the theophanies, He speaks in another way, "different from the Word: it
is another presence, closer, without mediation, near. It is His presence."
"This, he explained,
happens in the liturgical celebration. The liturgical
celebration is not a social act, a good social act; it is not a gathering of the
faithful to pray together. It is something else. In the liturgy, God is
present," but it is a closer presence. In the Mass, in fact, "the presence of
the Lord is real, truly real." "When we celebrate the Mass,
we don't accomplish a representation of the Last Supper: no,
it is not a representation. It is something else: it is the Last Supper itself.
It is to really live once more the Passion and the redeeming Death of the Lord.
It is a theophany: the Lord is made present on the altar to be offered to the
Father for the salvation of the world."
