FAITH IN POLITICS
The Bible indicates a one world economic, political and religious system will unfold in the last days. However it is apparent only those who have discernment can see this happening. Christians who are bent on building the kingdom seem to be part of the problem rather that warning about the coming delusion. What will you do or say?
……………………………………………………………………………
Almost daily the news reports major changes that are underway as Christianity in the twenty-first century is being re-invented. Pastor Rick Warren and others claim a “new reformation” is underway. Partnerships are being formed that would have never been possible before. Not only are Christian denominations being blended together, Christianity and other world religions are forming alliances that are supposed to be able to solve the world’s problems and make the world a better place.
All of this sounds like it is right, doesn’t. But is this really the case. Can man resolve the problems of the world religiously and politically? Where is this headed?
For several years now I have been following the direction that evangelical Christians are being led by the pied pipers of the Purpose Driven emerging church. An article I read recently titled “Envision 08, Charts Future of Faith in Politics,” explains quite clearly what is taking place:
In the midst of election frenzy, a group of diverse Christian leaders gathered this week for an unprecedented conference that called for rethinking the role of faith in public life. The Envision ‘08 conference gathered hundreds of evangelical, mainline Protestants, Pentecostals, and Christians of diverse racial backgrounds at Princeton University on June 8-10 to map out the future of Christian engagement in politics in the next century. [1]
A number of prominent Christian leaders spoke at the conference including popular author and innovative Christian thinker Brian McLaren and Richard Cizik of the National Association of Evangelicals. This what Cizik said:
We are not just people of vision, but are also implementing a public strategy that will not only shape the Fall's election, but is transforming culture beyond politics, both in the United States and abroad. [2]
Cizik was recently featured in TIME Magazine's top 100 most influential people in the world list. He is a key figure in the green evangelical movement that has mobilized churches and Christians to cut carbon emissions and care for creation.
So how will Christian’s participate in shaping the world in the future? Will the gospel be redefined so that Christianity can be reinvented? The article answers this question quite clearly:
At the end of the conference, the Envision declaration was drafted, which challenges the diverse Christian body to participate in “God’s work to eradicate poverty, create peace, and build just communities and right relationships with the earth.” [3]
Now I ask you, what gospel is this? Can’t you see that a paradigm shift is underway! "Evangelical" Christianity is being seduced into embracing a "social gospel" while at the same time ignoring or outright rejecting the gospel of Jesus Christ according to the scriptures.
History reveals Bible believing Christians were split on these very same issues in the past. However, in the era in which we now live, it is the majority who are promoting a social gospel program, while the remnant are standing behind the gospel as proclaimed in the Bible.
Will you be part of the remnant?
