Another year will soon be over. Now the ministry of Understand The Times will enter the third decade since it was founded in 1991. While we have faced some very difficult and challenging times lately, God has been with us and brought us through.

This past year it has been necessary for me to personally cut back on physical travel compared to what I was doing previously before becoming very ill in 2009. However this has actually forced us to use the Internet as a tool to get information distributed throughout the world. Google analytics reports that our web site has been visited by people in over 190 countries of the world this year and by over 150,000 different people. The commentaries that have been written and the weekly News in Review posts that we send out are impacting lives all over the planet.

While God is opening news doors, He has also slammed others shut. Former ministry partners and friends we once shared conference platforms with have severed relationships with us because of our bold position to tell the truth and expose apostasy. Understand The Times refuses to fear man by playing games in order to sell our products. In fact we take a very low key on marketing and place a very high priority on sharing the truth by freely posting articles and commentaries that are available to anyone free of charge.

This of course comes at a cost to the ministry. Web sites are costly as well as maintaining them. Ron Pieriotti and Julie Retzlaf work countless hours keeping our site up to date and informing those who come to our site for a biblical perspective of the news.

If you have followed the ministry this past year you will see that we are becoming more and more focused on missions oriented ministry. The four countries that we are concentrating in are Myanmar, Philippines, Kenya and South Africa. The entire amount of funds that come into Understand The Times for Missions goes to support orphans, the poor, and the widows as well as proclaiming the gospel to the areas where people designate their support.

Like other ministries our support in 2011 dropped off substantially. Some of this was because of the economy but a large portion was from former supporters who dropped us because they did not want us to expose the apostasy that God has called us to expose because they were part of it. They thought this would discourage me so that I would shut up.

The number of churches that support Understand The Times are few but we deeply appreciate the ones that do. Most of our support come from like-minded individuals who believe in the ministry of Understand The Times. The mega churches that once supported our orphan programs are now focusing on maintaining their own property and cutting support to missionaries because they are an expense that can easily be ignored.

This of course is the way it works when Pastors become CEO’s and turn Christianity into a business rather than a ministry. Rather than give away to the needy and promote the gospel they gather up more and more physical property which they think shows that God is blessing them. As well they enter into political lobbying believing that America is a Christian nation – a false premise that fits together with the Roman Catholic plan to establish the kingdom of God on earth without the presence of King Jesus.

Many have been inquiring since our trip to Africa how they can partner with the ministry of Understand The Times to further the gospel. I would suggest you read over the reports we are posting under the four main headings on our web site at understandthetimes.org . The fifth area is to support our general expenses to keep our web site going so we can share the truth worldwide.
