Ministry Update |
||||||||||||||
October 20, 2008
Another year is quickly
passing by – how fast time travels. The
signs of the times indicate that we are
in the last days and Jesus is returning
soon. Until He comes, there is so much
to do.
I have just returned from
a ten-day missions trip to Columbia and
Ecuador where I spoke at two locations
in South America with Pastor Xavier Ries from
Calvary Chapel Pasadena (and wife
Trudy). We first spoke at Calvary Chapel
Cali, and then on to Calvary Chapel
Cuenca, Ecuador. This was a very
encouraging time to see what God is
doing through the leadership of young
men and women God has raised up in these
places who love Jesus and desire to
teach His Word. Also on this trip were
Pastor Joe Crowley and his wife Jean
from Wellington, Kansas. We had a
tremendous time fellowshipping and
teaching together.
One of the highlights of
the trip was the opportunity we each had
to share our testimonies and the gospel
to two classes of students at the
University of
Cuenca.
There were no holds barred. All of us
were amazed at the openness of the
students and the questions they had
about Christianity and salvation. What
an amazing contrast to what we face here
in North America.
My upcoming schedule to
the end of the year is intense and will
involve a lot of travel. Many of you
know that I have been plagued this past
year with an allergy problem that has
not only caused a lot of discomfort but
at times is outright
debilitating.
Presently I am undergoing a number of
tests to try and determine what the
source of the problem is. I have made
some alterations in my schedule to try
and ease some of the stress.
If you look at my
schedule you will see that I have an
extended trip to Australia and New
Zealand that will be very intense. When
I arrive home, I will only have a day
before I have to leave to speak at the
Pre Trib Conference in Dallas, Texas. I
would appreciate your prayers.
In the New Year travel
resumes, Lord willing, to Myanmar and
the Philippines. In February I will be
teaming up with Tom Mc Mahon for an
England tour and in March to Paraguay
for meeting there.
And finally, some very
happy news for our family, the addition
of a new granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann
born to our son Wade and his wife Lisa
on November 4. This is a great joy for
our family.
Thank you so much for
being on our Understand The Times
ministry update list. May the Lord
richly bless you.
Sincerely,
Roger Oakland
