There are Roman Catholic bashers and then there are farmer bashers, according to some. Don't bash anyone unless you have all the facts, ay!

Many Roman Catholics are actually Christians even though they don't know it. They DO NOT believe that Jesus is actually a cracker they eat at Mass and then sin all week long. Nor do they believe that Mary is the Queen of heaven. They do not believe that their priest is their father nor that he can forgive them for their sins. They are biblical Christians who have been tricked to believe in a man made religion.

Farmers do not lay around and just collect checks from the government in spite of what city people believe. They tend to work hard when they have to work. When there is time to play around they know how to play, ay! But they are not pigs. Pigs are pigs. They supply your food because they work hard to get $$$ that the government takes away because the government has to get their %%%%%% of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, ay!

If these farmer bashers had to make their own bread, feed their own cows and clean the barn they would not have a pot (to do you know what in), would they?

Bashers usually don't connect the dots very well. They just spout off at the mouth. They are angry because they think they are right, BUT they are wrong, are they not? They speak before they think, don't they? They have verbal, you know what? Too bad, so sad. They will never be happy, will they?

Hope you can find bread, milk, cheese, pasta, orange juice, chicken, bacon, ham, rice, fish ( there are fish farmers, ay,) lettuce, radishes, potatoes, strawberries, cherry pie, cheese cake, shrimp, sprouts, carrots, crackers, toast, muffins and other things at the store today, including beans that make gas.

Farming in the western world is a redundant industry -- we do not need it!" This was the pronouncement made by a prominent former newsreader when she spoke to Damien O'Reilly on RTE's Farmweek programme just three years ago. She then went on to compound the issue by saying that farm supports were "obscene", that farmers were "blackmailing" their fellow citizens, "the taxpayers", while "being paid to sit on their backsides".

These comments, although hurtful, cannot be simply dismissed as 'farming bashing', something which many journalists like to indulge in. Around the same time, Irish MEPs informed me that farming in Ireland would have to be sacrificed to facilitate European trade with developing countries. They argued that this increased trade would provide farmers' children with much better jobs in the financial services sector than they could ever hope to get in farming.

How things have changed! Even though farm incomes remain low, farming is once again being recognised for what it is -- an integral and important part of the Irish economy. Instead of redundant farmers, we are now hearing about an impending global food supply crisis. Current figures support the contention that with an increasing global population and a finite supply of agricultural land, the time is drawing near when global demand for food will outstrip supply.

Of greater concern is the fact that oil shortages have already caused problems for food production in the 'developing world' where farm output in many areas has already fallen back to levels before the 'Green Revolution'.
