A news item titled Green Bay Bishop David Ricken leads Mass as Lifest ends in Oshkosh has caught the attention of UTT researchers. UTT is therefore compelled to post a news alert. A better title for this article from our perspective could have been "Greg Laurie Joins Hands With Roman Catholic Jesuit Priest At Wisconsin Ecumenical Gathering."
You can read the article by going to: While the whole article is very revealing, please note the following portion: Protestant devotions, a children's service and the Catholic Mass each were held separately before joint worship at 11 a.m. on the grandstand featuring Lenz; Greg Laurie, senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, Calif., and head of the international Harvest Crusades; and acclaimed worship leader Lincoln Brewster. During the five-day event, the diocese held special activities for festival-goers such as handing out free Holy Hotdogs, Blessed Brats and Sacred S'mores, said the Rev. Daniel Schuster, diocese vocation director and a Lifest speaker." It was very successful and created a bridge between the different (faith) communities that are here," he said. That's the goal of Lifest, Lenz said. UTT has been warning about the direction Calvary Chapel has been headed for several years. Just a few days ago UTT published an article written jointly with Lighthouse Trails called "The Jesuit Agenda." If you want to have a perspective of what was going on in Wisconsin, you will find this article very interesting. This is one more example showing where the Calvary Chapel movement is headed. When one goes down the road of ecumenism, very seldom is there a recovery. In June of 2005 at a Calvary Chapel Pastor's conference, Jon Courson introduced the idea that communion is more than a remembrance. Rather than Calvary Chapel leadership dealing with that issue then, the tape of Jon Courson's message (according to Paul Smith who was then the CCCOF head) was locked away in a safe. This reminds us of the numerous Billy Graham letters that are also sealed away until a date following his death. Is there a reason that this information is not been made public now?
This is just one more indicator that there are big problems ahead for the Calvary Chapel movement that seems to be moving further away from the Word of God.
